How do I know if my switchboard needs upgrading?+
Common signs are ceramic fuses, no safety switches, frequent tripping, flickering lights when appliances start, or a board that's hot to touch. If your home still has its original board and you're adding modern appliances or air conditioning, it's worth an inspection. Quotes are free and there's no call out fee.
How much does a switchboard upgrade cost?+
It depends on the size of the board, the state of the wiring behind it, and whether the meter box needs work too. That's why we quote every job individually, for free, with upfront transparent pricing before any work begins. You'll never get a surprise on the invoice.
Can you do switchboard work on both sides of the QLD and NSW border?+
Yes. EJ Electrical holds electrical licences in both Queensland and New South Wales, so we handle switchboard and meter box work anywhere from Coomera down to Pottsville, including Tweed Heads and the border area. One licensed team for the whole Gold Coast and Northern NSW region.
Will the power be off during the upgrade?+
Yes, for part of the job, since we can't work on a live board. We'll tell you before we start how long the power will be off and plan the work to keep the interruption as short as we can. We test everything before the power goes back on and walk you through the new board before we leave.
