Frequently asked questions

Do smoke alarms need to be installed by an electrician?+
Hardwired smoke alarms, the type connected to mains power, must be installed by a licensed electrician. We're licensed in both QLD and NSW, so we can install and replace alarms anywhere on the Gold Coast and Northern NSW. We'll also position them properly, which matters as much as the alarm itself.
How often should safety switches be tested?+
Press the test button regularly yourself, it takes seconds and the switch should trip instantly. Beyond that, having a licensed electrician properly test switches and circuits is smart, and it's easy with us because a free property safety inspection is included with every job booking. If a switch is slow or won't reset, call us.
What's the difference between a safety switch and a circuit breaker?+
A circuit breaker protects wiring and appliances by cutting power when a circuit overloads. A safety switch, or RCD, protects people, tripping in a fraction of a second when current leaks, like when someone gets a shock. Many homes have breakers but not safety switches on every circuit. We can check yours.
Is there really a 10% seniors discount?+
Yes. Seniors and pensioners get 10% off, just show your card to the technician on the day. That's on top of our $0 call out fee and free quotes, and you can also save $149 + GST when you call or contact us this week. Fair pricing shouldn't have fine print.
