Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my house needs rewiring?+
Age is the big clue. Homes with original wiring from decades back often show it through frequent tripping, flickering lights, buzzing points or a switchboard full of ceramic fuses. We can inspect the wiring and give you a straight answer, and a free property safety inspection is included with every job booking.
How much does it cost to add a power point?+
It depends on where the point is going and how far we need to run the cable, so we quote each job rather than guessing. Quotes are free, there's no call out fee, and you get upfront transparent pricing before any work begins. If you're thinking about a few points, tell us, we can quote them together.
Is it safe to keep using power boards and double adaptors?+
As a short term measure they're common, but stacking them on one circuit is how points overheat, and that's a fire risk. If you're relying on power boards in every room, the real fix is more power points on properly loaded circuits. It's usually a quicker job than people expect.
Do you do wiring for renovations and new builds?+
Yes. New wiring for renovations, kitchen renovations and new home builds is a big part of our work, and EJ spent around ten years on major domestic renovations and commercial sites before founding the business in 2012. Every project is supervised by EJ Barnes and run through his own 4-stage checklist.
